India International Jewelry Week 2014: Trend Review

The much anticipated India International Jewelry Week kick-started on a lavish note, on Day 1. The ramp witnessed an extravagant medley of authentic, traditional jewelry designs, flaunted by Bollywood beauties who walked thronged the runway. Neha Dhupia, Lisa Ray, Dia Mirza sported a thorough Indian bridal team-up, with diamond jewelry, ruby and emerald bracelets and earrings. Harshni Jethani, on the other hand, showcased the diamond-emerald neckpiece team-up with a white gown.The focus shifted to polki designs and uncut jewelry, and nose rings as stars like Chitrangada Singh walked the ramp for Moni Aggarwal.

Day 2 saw an even greater highlight on Indian bridal jewelry, which drifted to contemporary jewelry styles as the day progressed. Zarine Khan and Pooja Chopra walked the ramp for Swarovski, with Zarine decked in Rajasthani bridal attire, complemented with matha patti, nath and heavy jewelry. Pooja Chopra donned an uncut diamond choker neckpiece, mang tikka and bangles, while Zoya Afroz sported the ‘pasa’ on her head. Divya Khosla brought in a contemporary grace to the event with her white crop top and skirt attire, clubbed with a four-layered diamond & pearl necklace. As Day 2 wrapped up, we spotted nose rings, mang tikkas, and jhoomer had been a favorite of our designers this year.

Rio Tonto’s ‘Nazraana’ collection stole the show on Day 3 of the event. Designer Derewala displayed an exquisite collection from the jewelry hub of Jaipur, while Parineeta Chopra flaunted a heavy pearl & gold necklace, green gemstone bracelet and earrings. The brand ambassador for IIJW, Sonam Kapoor, sauntered down the runway in a white dress, combined with diamond rings, and droplet earrings. Next, she walked down the ramp in a sheer white Saree, teamed with a gold leaf motif bridal headband called ‘Arbor Amore’, and floral earrings. Bipasha, who wore an embroidered lehenga choli ensemble, complemented with breathtaking polki Raani Haar shoulder dusters, bangles, and a cocktail ring.
